A recent blog post from Royal Society Publishing’s director sums up some of the changes which have been made. The key points for librarians are:
Paywall dropped
This means researchers can access papers on the site without any complex remote access procedures. This greater access, available since March, has prompted some questions about the subjects covered by different journals and a recent video provides a good introduction to content.
Covid-19 collection
A comprehensive list of relevant articles and themed issues will allow researchers to immediately scan and evaluate recent content in the context of their own work in this area. This will be updated as soon as new content becomes available.
Suspending print
The hope is that the break will not be too long, and any print issues will be sent once once staff feel they will reach libraries safely. Print-only subscribers will be able to access all content online.
Submissions are open
Submissions are operating as usual for any researchers who would like to submit to Royal Society Publishing.
Customer services are open
Any questions should be addressed to local representatives or access@royalsociety.org.
