Five new Opera collections have launched today on Bloomsbury Video Library.
The new collections feature exclusive filmed productions of 80 operas by over 40 composers, from Berlioz to Wagner, with performances from world class opera houses including The Royal Opera House, Teatro Real, La Fenice, Glyndebourne, and more.
The period collections span Early and Baroque operas from pre-1750 through to Modern operas, and showcase the works of notable conductors, directors, and artists, such as Antonio Pappano, Zubin Mehta, Graham Vick, Robert Carsen, Sonya Yoncheva, Jonas Kaufmann, and many more. The Glyndebourne Festival Collection includes 29 high quality performances from the world-leading Glyndebourne Opera House, filmed between 2005 and 2019, including the world premiere of Brett Dean's multi-award-winning Hamlet from 2017, and the 2010 revival of Hockney and Cox's production of Stravinsky's The Rake's Progress.
The five new collections are:
- Early and Baroque Opera (pre-1750)
- Classical Opera (1750 - 1930)
- Romantic Opera (1830 - 1900)
- Modern Opera (1900 - )
- Glyndebourne Festival Opera
Content on Bloomsbury Video Library is available through both subscription and perpetual access models.
