East View has announced that it has licensed the complete microfilm holdings of the International Population Census Collection (IPC) from Gale/Cengage.
The IPC Collection has several million pages of volume-based census publications from nearly 100 countries and has been acquired in microfilm form by dozens of academic institutions globally. East View’s Global Census Archive (GCA) program will quickly achieve critical mass across all regions of the world with the addition of this content spanning the early twentieth century to the present day.
GCA is comprised of GCA-PUBS, which includes all published materials released by the national census authority, and GCA-GIS, highly usable GIS datasets containing all the census questions and answers in a file format ready to ingest in various GIS applications. East View provides a centralized online PUBS platform and uniform GIS format for these materials, making a wide range of census assets easily accessible for discovery and analysis.
“Our goal is to create a single destination for scholars and analysts to find current and historic census data, especially the GIS data and the published content that accompanies the release of a census,” said Kent Lee, CEO. “Over the past year, we have served dozens of customers in the academic, commercial and government space with this product line and with the IPC licensing so many more choices will now be available to our customers.”
