Conference Dates and Venue

The 2012 Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place from 26-28 March at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow, Scotland's premier national venue for public events, concerts and conferences.  Glasgow is a city with everything to offer.  It is Scotland's cultural capital and one of the most dynamic cities in Europe: steeped in culture, rich in history, with elegant streets, squares, parks and gardens - the name Glasgow actually means 'dear green place'.  What's more, it's one of the UK's finest Victorian cities with magnificent architecture everywhere you look.  Find out more about what Glasgow has to offer.

Sponsored Places for Students

UKSG is offering up to four free places for students to attend the 2012 Conference.  These places are being supported by Elsevier BV whose sponsorship is very much appreciated.

The sponsorship award covers the cost of attendance at the conference, including all meals, entertainment and accommodation.  Those eligible to apply are students enrolled on Library & Information and Publishing degree courses, whether currently studying full time or part time as undergraduates or postgraduates.

To be considered, students should write a letter of application to the UKSG Education Officer which should include a summary of why they would like to attend.  This letter should be e-mailed to Alison Whitehorn, UKSG Business Manager (alison@uksg.org).  A note of endorsement from the applicant’s tutor to support their submission should also be e-mailed to Alison.  In return for the sponsorship, students are required to submit a critical appraisal of the conference.  The best reports will be considered for publication in the Group's online journal, Insights.  Travel expenses to and from the conference will also be repaid on presentation of the report.

The closing date for applications is Friday 10 February 2012.
