Join the UKSG Board of Trustees!

We are seeking candidates to stand for election as Trustees of the UKSG board, including someone to take over as Vice Chair.  You will play a vital role in the running of UKSG – ensuring we stick to our mission and objectives.

There are three regular Trustee openings plus a vacancy for a Vice Chair available and we are interested in candidates from across the sector – Libraries, publishers, agents, vendors, consultants, suppliers, tech companies – anyone who is an individual UKSG member or is employed by a UKSG member organization can put themselves forward.

About the role

Our meetings are held five times a year, with one held in-person, the remainder are virtual.  You would be expected to get involved in other UKSG projects, such as our EDI working group, Digital Strategy and education programme, but the workload isn’t expected to be onerous.

Trustees play an important (and legal) role in the running of UKSG.  You can read the UKSG Role of the Trustee document here. Background information on what is expected from you is here.

Read the Board feedback on what it means to them to be a Trustee.

Our commitment to diversity

UKSG is committed to embracing and representing the diversity of the global knowledge community. We actively encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities and experiences. We recognise that bringing in people with diverse perspectives strengthens our decision-making and better serves our whole community. You can read more about our EDI commitment here.

Summary:

–            You must be an individual member of UKSG or employed by a member institution to stand for election. Only one Trustee per member institution is allowed (you can check whether your institution is already represented here.)

–            Directors hold their roles for three years, and may stand for re-election for a further 3 year term

–            This is an unpaid role, but we do pay expenses when we ask you to travel

–            You do not need to have previous experience, or necessarily operate at a senior level within your organisation – it is important to us that our Board reflects our community, so people from all parts of the community are welcome.  Full on-boarding and support will be provided!
