Hamad Bin Khalifa University Press (HBKU Press) presented by its academic publishing platform, QScience, have selected KGL PubFactory, the digital hosting platform from KnowledgeWorks Global Ltd (KGL), as the new online home for its portfolio of scholarly journals, books, and conference proceedings.
QScience is a peer-reviewed, diamond open access online resource for HBKU Press’s portfolio of many scholarly journals, as well as books and conference proceedings, spanning a broad range of disciplines including medicine, engineering, Islamic studies, and social science.
This collaboration marks a significant step in QScience’s mission to deliver impactful, open access research on a global scale. Under a new seven-year agreement, HBKU Press will migrate to the KGL PubFactory platform, providing authors, editors, and readers with an innovative and flexible environment that enhances content discoverability and delivers a seamless user experience. The platform is designed to boost engagement with QScience publications as the press continues to extend its reach beyond Qatar and the Middle East.
“Our mission at HBKU Press is to ensure that research published in QScience is visible, accessible, and impactful to international audiences” said Dr. Salah B. Ajjur, Head of Academic and Journals Publishing at HBKU Press. “Partnering with KGL PubFactory allows us to advance this mission through a reliable, adaptable infrastructure that puts the needs of our academic communities first, while offering the highest standards of support and service.”
“KGL PubFactory is proud to welcome HBKU Press to our international community of publishers,” said José Fossi, Vice President of KGL PubFactory. “We are excited to provide QScience with a flexible and scalable solution that will elevate the author and reader experience, support greater global discoverability, and amplify the contribution of HBKU Press to the advancement of research worldwide.”
The transition to the new platform is planned for late 2026 and will be carefully managed to ensure continuity of access and a smooth migration from the current system.
