Research Signals Limited (“Signals”), a pioneering research integrity technology company, today announced the successful close of a $1.1 million Seed funding round. The round is backed by minority strategic investors ACS Publications, a division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), and Enago, alongside Scholarly Angels and other leading angel investors.
The investment reflects a shared vision to deliver deep, comprehensive evaluations of research so that it can be trusted, understood, and leveraged to advance human knowledge. As research volume continues to grow and concerns around quality, trust, and AI proliferate, Signals is addressing an urgent need for dynamic, transparent, and scalable evaluation.
Use of Funds
The funding will accelerate Signals’ mission across three strategic areas:
- Core product development: Accelerating Signals’ research integrity products to help publishers protect their reputations and deliver trustworthy research to their communities without compromising editorial efficiency.
- Technology scaling: Expanding the proprietary data estate, meeting rising demand, and investing further in AI capabilities to ethically transform editorial decision-making.
- Signals Data Graph: Leveraging Signals’ complex network of global research data to enhance publisher decision-making beyond research integrity, enabling institutions, corporates, and researchers to identify high-quality research they can confidently build on.
Strategic Investor Partnerships
Signals intentionally sought partners with key strategic synergies:
- ACS Publications will provide expert feedback to inform development of Signals’ research integrity solution. Sarah Tegen, Ph.D., Chief Publishing Officer of ACS Publications, will join the Signals Board as an Observer.
- Enago and Signals have formed a reciprocal partnership to deliver increased value and efficiency to publishers. Signals products will be enhanced by Enago services and technology, while Enago’s research integrity offerings will be supported by Signals’ platform. Enago also brings unique expertise and distribution in emerging markets.
An important principle underpinning this investment is that Signals remains fully independent and publisher-neutral. These partnerships create a comprehensive, one-stop research integrity offering — simplifying selection for publishers in a market crowded with single-point solutions.
