Thieme signs agreement with ChronosHub to streamline post-acceptance journal article processing

8 July 2025

Thieme has signed an agreement with ChronosHub to streamline post-acceptance journal article processing. This agreement underlines Thieme’s commitment to improving publishing journeys for authors, institutions, and consortia.

Thieme will transition from its current vendor later this year, before adopting ChronosHub’s License Management and Billing of Author Charges modules. Used in tandem, these negate the need for stakeholders to use multiple systems when navigating licensing and APC billing & collection pathways, simplifying processes such as license change requests and license delegation.

In this new centralized environment, Thieme’s authors will be able to confirm their publishing choice, sign publishing agreements (whether for open or closed access routes), and pay any article publication charges. Institutions and consortia will benefit from dashboards for reporting and approvals.

“We want to empower authors to make informed decisions about publishing routes, with full visibility into funding options,” says Veronika Spinka, VP Science at Thieme. “This made ChronosHub the natural partner to help us advance our open-access strategy.”

“We built these modules to work together. We’re proud that Thieme recognizes their value in adding much-needed transparency to complex stages of the publishing journey,” adds Christian Grubak, CEO and Founder of ChronosHub.
