French archiving agency Persée joins Keepers Registry

13 March 2025

Keepers Registry is a free online service. Partner archiving agencies, such as CLOCKSS, Library of Congress, Portico, Rede Cariniana, provide the ISSN International Centre with data on the journal titles they hold.

Thanks to the ISSN, the international persistent identifier for serial publications, this data is associated with each title in the ISSN portal, informing the library and publishing community about thelong-term preservation of this cultural and scientific heritage. Users wishing to retrieve persistent archiving data can subscribe to the Submit.Retrieve.Reuse service.

Gabrielle Richard, Director of Persée, emphasizes that “referencing, openness and preservation are the challenges facing scientific publishing and the creation of digital collections. The great attention paid to the quality and completeness of the digital collections produced by Persée meets both an ambitionto open up scientific content in all its retrospective depth, and an ambition to preserve a documentary heritage that is fundamental to science, but also to the general public. Joining the 19 institutions contributing to the Keepers Registry is an opportunity for Persée to reaffirm the importance ofarchiving in its missions, and to give visibility to the part played by our organization in this international initiative”.

Gaëlle Béquet, Director of the ISSN International Centre, welcomes the arrival of this new partner: “We are delighted to be working with our colleagues at Persée to better disseminate information about the long-term preservation of French-language scientific content.”
