Mary Ann Liebert have adopted DataSalon’s PaperStack service to provide editorial and peer review teams with a comprehensive reporting suite – covering all aspects of the peer review process and providing cross-journal reporting across their 100+ peer-reviewed journals.
PaperStack provides API integration with the ScholarOne journal management system used by Mary Ann Liebert – the publisher simply arranged API access, and DataSalon took care of everything involved in harvesting and linking up the data, as well as enhancing it with industry data from ROR, Funder Registry, ORCID, and Crossref.
This ‘out-of-the-box’ solution has decentralized ScholarOne data to allow Mary Ann Liebert editorial staff to easily identify workflow, strategy, and process priorities, and to share this information easily with their Editors and Editorial offices. The user-friendly reports in PaperStack include submissions and acceptance rates, turnaround times, geographical distribution of authors and reviewers, and more – and they can all be broken down by facets such as subject area, journal, and article type to give whatever level of detail is required.
Key for Mary Ann Liebert are the record views for each type of data. For articles, this gives them a visual workflow/timeline of each article’s progress through the submissions process. For individuals, it gives full details of their author and reviewer activity, allowing them to see all articles by a given author in a single place. And for organizations, it gives detailed profile information, as well as an understanding of parent-child relationships and the ability to count submissions at any level of the organizational hierarchy.
Sophie Reisz, VP & Executive Editor at Mary Ann Liebert commented “We are very pleased to be using PaperStack. The platform seamlessly aggregates a number of our key data streams and provides intuitive visual reporting that is simple to read and understand. The suite of reports makes it easy to provide our internal and external teams with the information we need to make fast, data-driven decisions.”
Nick Andrews, Managing Director of DataSalon, commented: “We’re delighted to have provided Mary Ann Liebert, Inc. with a simple to set up and simple to use resource to optimize swift decision-making capabilities. The flexible and scalable nature of PaperStack means that it will grow with them, as they acquire more journals, and will continue to provide the reporting they require in order to deliver a successful publishing programme.”
