Free UKSG webinar – Working with Open Access

This webinar will introduce attendees to the basic concepts of Open Access and how they work together to build wider access to knowledge. Attendees will also be encouraged to think about the different ways in which librarians can build their skills and get involved in this rapidly growing and exciting area.

Speakers

Rebecca Evans is Senior Library Training Manager at SAGE Publishing. She supports international sales teams in understanding the library market by designing and developing training initiatives, and oversees SAGE’s customer training in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Claire Sewell is the Research Support Librarian for the Physical Sciences at the University of Cambridge. In this role she works to support researchers across a range of disciplines to comply with Open Research practices and ensure that their valuable work is available for others to build upon. Prior to this Claire worked to train library staff at Cambridge in research support to ensure that they were best placed to support the growing needs of the research community.


Learning outcomes


After this webinar attendees will be able to:

  • Outline the different skills needed and how these can be developed
  • Define Open Access publishing
  • Describe the common models of Open Access publishing available
  • Understand the different roles available to librarians looking to work in this area

This is a free webinar and is open to members and non-members of UKSG alike.  It will be recorded and the speaker will use a web cam.
