Call for Participants: UKSG Sub-committees

27 February 2026

UKSG is seeking enthusiastic new members to join two of our volunteer sub-committees. If you’re looking to get more involved in the UKSG community, expand your professional network, and contribute to sector‑wide initiatives, we’d love to hear from you!

We welcome a diverse range of voices from across the community—librarians, publishers, intermediaries, and beyond.

UKSG Education & Events Subcommittee – Recruiting Now

The Education & Events Subcommittee shapes and delivers UKSG’s programme of seminars and training events. These range from introductory sessions for those new to the information community to intermediate and more advanced workshops responding to emerging trends and professional development needs.

Members work together to:

  • share topic ideas for seminar and training events
  • identify and invite speakers
  • shape event schedules and programme information
  • support event delivery, including opportunities to chair or moderate sessions

UKSG Outreach & Engagement Subcommittee – New Members Wanted!

The Outreach & Engagement Subcommittee works to broaden UKSG’s reach, raise awareness of our activities, and promote engagement across the community.

Members work together to:

  • put on student roadshow events to engage the next generation of professionals
  • co-ordinate conference bursaries and awards to enable people to attend the annual conference
  • deliver a successful podcast series that provides opportunities to interview sector leaders and develop digital media skills

What you need to know

This is a great opportunity to meet colleagues across the sector and contribute to meaningful, visible projects to enhance your professional experience. UKSG is a community of practice, and we value the collective responsibility of our members. Volunteers are expected to collaborate with kindness, uphold inclusive practices and represent the wider community rather than their individual institutions. Sub-committees meet online three times a year and collaborate closely with UKSG staff and volunteers. Sub-committee members are responsible for managing their own time and capacity and contributing in ways that are sustainable alongside their professional commitments.

Find out more about how we work with volunteers in our Guiding Principles for Volunteer Recruitment.

If you are interested in getting involved, please email a short Expression of Interest explaining why you are interested in volunteering and what you would bring to the role to the relevant subcommittee Chair, contact details below:
