ChronosHub assisted the American Chemical Society with a public journal finder tool that includes all of ACS’ more than 75 journals, now live at https://acs.chronoshub.io. Authors are presented with several options designed to help them identify the right journal for their manuscript submissions. Authors can select their funder and affiliated institution to see funder compliance requirements as well as potential eligibility for open access (OA) agreements negotiated by their institution or consortium. Either article publishing charges (APC) are displayed for the different compliant publishing routes, or an explicit text will underline that the APC is covered by an agreement. In addition, the journal finder offers filter options that allow authors to narrow down the presented options; they can filter the journals by subject, license, OA type, embargo period, and APC price.
Ultimately, with the ACS Journal Finder, authors will be smoothly guided through an otherwise increasingly complicated journal selection process, forging a much simpler and less time-consuming author experience.
Sybille Geisenheyner, Director of Open Science Strategy & Licensing at ACS commented on the collaboration: “We are happy to partner with ChronosHub on this initiative, as it will be a valuable tool for our authors as they determine which journal is right for them. We are consistently undertaking new initiatives to ease the transition towards open access for our authors and look forward to implementing this tool in our researcher community.”
Christian Grubak, co-CEO at ChronosHub adds: “It’s a pleasure for us to be able to assist ACS on this journey to forge greater transparency for its authors. Fostering a simple and smooth author experience is key and by partnering with ACS, we’ll ensure that authors are provided with the right guidance throughout the process of selecting the right journal.”
