Jisc has announced the launch of the new Jisc Library Hub Discover service. This service has taken over from its predecessor Copac and will start providing libraries and users with the ability to do fast searches using a new interface across the merged catalogues of 110 UK academic and specialist libraries – with more libraries to be added in the next few months.
Discover isn’t just a replacement for Copac; the SUNCAT service is also being retired, and serials functionality is integrated into the new system. Since 2003, users have had to navigate two different Jisc systems to find full coverage of books and journals but now the data has been brought together and made searchable in one service.
Also launched:
- Library Hub Compare: collection management service (replacing the CCM Tools service)
- Library Hub Cataloguing: shared cataloguing service (continuing to run in parallel with the RLUK database for the next few months)
More details are available on Neil Grindley's blog post. Redirects will be in place from the retired services. Any questions should be addressed to help@jisc.ac.uk, stating that the enquiry is for the Library Hub team.
