ProQuest has shared the key findings of their 2018 survey Understanding the Content Researchers Use and Value. The results indicate that many scholarly works still rely on conventional sources, such as ebooks and primary documents but more and more faculty members are looking for alternative ways to support their research. The survey also shows that faculty encourage their students to use different content types as it improves learning and their ability to think critically.
