SUMMARY:Free UKSG webinar - Partnership working at The Hive: opening up access and opportunity
DESCRIPTION:Register for this recording \nYou may still register for the recording of the webinar by visiting the GoToWebinar site. \nSlides \nSarah Pittaway has kindly agreed to make her slides available.  You may download them from here.  Please use the correct attribution if you wish to refer to them. \n  \nUKSG’s vision is to “improve the flow of knowledge and the information experience of scholars and researchers”.  It’s all too easy to think solely of those scholars and researchers who are working inside of academia\, in Higher Education.  But we all have a duty to think beyond this and consider how we can open up access to institutions and the knowledge they provide to the wider community. \nAs Europe’s first integrated public and university library\, The Hive in Worcester aims to do just this\, opening up opportunities and breaking down barriers. \nThis webinar will cover some of the practicalities of how such a shared service operates\, including: systems integration; budgets\, acquisitions and subscriptions; licences and walk-in access; staff and specialist support; and\, spaces.   \nRecognising that not everyone can have a library quite like The Hive\, it will also reflect on some lessons and applicability.  What can others learn from us?  For example\, how are you catering to diverse groups?  What barriers are there that needn’t be?  Can you partner even in much smaller ways to open up access? \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLearning outcomes \n\n\n\n\n\nParticipants will gain: \n\n\n\n\nan understanding of how a shared model like The Hive works\, both in terms of high level aims and aspirations\, and everyday practicalities\n\n\n\nan awareness of discussions and questions to consider in relation to partnerships and widening participation within their own institutions and practices\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSubject level and previous knowledge required \n\n\n\n\n\nIntroductory and non-intensive\, no previous knowledge or experience required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRegistration \n\n\n\n\n\nThis is a free webinar and is open to members and non-members of UKSG alike.  It will be recorded and the speaker will use a web cam. \n\n\n\nTo register\, please visit the Citrix/GoToWebinar site.
