DESCRIPTION:Sponsorship Opportunities – details available here \nCall for Speakers! \n\n  \n\nUKSG invites submissions for short presentations for this key event around this year’s theme Cracking the curriculum! Making the most of e-resources in learning and teaching. \n\n  \n\nWe’d like your stories of things you’ve tried\, what worked\, what didn’t and tips you can share with your peers in a 20 minute session. Here are a few suggestions to get you thinking: \n\n  \n\n\n	Have you engaged hard-to-reach groups with e-resources?\n	What ways have you found to enthuse busy teachers with e-content?\n	Removing barriers: how have you worked together with others e.g. e-learning or IT staff and/or e-resources suppliers to enable seamless access to e-resources? \n\n\n\n	Do you have a great case study on promoting e-books successfully?\n	What new skills do your staff need to implement e-resources successfully in the curriculum?\n	Have you worked with a publisher to inspire learners with innovative content?\n\n\n  \n\nFeel free to come up with your own ideas. DESCRIPTION:Course summary\nChairs: Diana Massam\, Jisc and Fiona Ainsworth\, Royal Botanic Gardens\, Kew \n\nThis one-day seminar aims to present a practical introductory overview of all aspects of e-resources management\, encompassing e-journals\, e-books and bibliographic and full-text databases. \n\nThe emphasis is on developing a sound basic understanding of the details of e-resources handling in order to promote efficient and informed working practices.  A wide range of day-to-day issues will be covered\, with time devoted to recognising and resolving the problems that can arise at the boundaries between publishers\, intermediaries and libraries\, and addressing business models such as open access.  In addition\, the seminar will provide a forum for a group discussion on the current issues and opportunities offered by e-books. \n\nDelegates will be able to air and exchange views in the discussion session after each presentation. \n\n\nWhy you should attend \n\nDesigned particularly for staff who are new to working with e-resources\, whether from a publisher\, an intermediary or a library\, this seminar may also be of interest to those looking to consolidate and update their e-resources knowledge. \n\n“I thought that the course was very comprehensive\, and was a great introduction. I wish I had attended about two years ago\, when I first took on this role\, as it would have been even more helpful for me then\, but at least it gave me confidence that I know most of what I need to know\, but also raised a few questions that I want to investigate further.” \n\n“Very informative and you could see the clear links between the sectors and start to understand where the joined-up ways of working occur.” \n\n“It was stimulating and refreshing to meet individuals from different sectors and institutions.”
