Directory of Electronic Journals The recently published 7th edition of the Directory of Electronic Journals, Newsletters and Academic Discussion Lists is also available in a fully searchable version on the Web. This new edition includes over 3,400 titles, twice as many as the 1996 edition. Agreement has also been reached with Springer Verlag allowing Springer's electronic journal service, LINK, to be accessible to authorised users via SwetsNet. Nominations, together with five copies of the essay which should have been published in 1997, should be sent to Dr John C. ALLIN launched ALLIN (Access to Libraries for Learning in Northamptonshire), launched during National Libraries Week, is a co-operative agreement between Nene College Learning Resources and Northamptonshire Library and Information Service. Designed to foster and support learning and research, ALLIN aims to consolidate and extend a range of existing collaborative activity between the two services. Dutch and German libraries joint negotiating guidelines Dutch scientific libraries, together with a number of German libraries, have come together to draw up an agreed set of 'Licensing Principles' to be used when negotiating electronic licences with publishers. Electronic claiming from Blackwell's Blackwell's Information Services is offering electronic journal claiming to libraries using version 4.2 of Ameritech's Horizon library system. Claims will be transmitted between computer systems via the Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP), and will conform to the X12 interface format. Arnold launches Web services Arnold is the latest publisher to launch a Web site, which includes information on every Arnold journal and a link to the BIDS JournalsOnline service. The address is http://www.arnoldpublishers.com/ Name change for MEP After 25 years Mechanical Engineering Publications Ltd are changing name to Professional Engineering Publishing Ltd, reflecting the increasing complexity of the discipline. It is the publishing house of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and the exclusive European agent for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). Information Quest continues to expand Information Quest has established strategic alliances with several publishers of scientific, technical, medical and business materials, including the Institution of Chemical Engineers, Kluwer Academic and the Royal Society of Chemistry. Agreement has also been reached with BLDSC to provide Information Quest customers with the facility to order journal articles from the Document Supply Centre via IQ, and to receive them by Fax within 24-48 hours. Electronic journal claims for SIRSI users SIRSI Corporation and EBSCO have developed procedures for electronic claiming of journal issues using the SISAC-approved X12 format interface; the files are sent from the claiming library to EBSCO using the Internet File Transfer Protocol (FTP). The service is intended for institutions which lack the hardware and the technical backup to install, update and administer a multi-CD-ROM database service. The link to the remote ESP server allows users to access information from a variety of different publishers, and also to select the delivery mechanism most appropriate to their need.
