Mandating and the scholarly journal article: attracting interest on deposits?: London
Summary
Mandating the deposit of scholarly journal articles within Open Access repositories is gathering pace. Funding bodies and individual academic institutions around the world are increasingly coming forward with their rationale and policy statements. What does this mean for the various players in the scholarly communication chain and how are they responding to this requirement?
This one-day seminar, organised by UKSG, brings together policy makers and practitioners to discuss not only the philosophical and governance issues but also the 'nuts and bolts' of what has to be done, and by whom, in order to make this whole process become a credible way of disseminating scholarly literature.
With experienced speakers drawn from different programmes and initiatives, including updates and reporting on some current research, this seminar promises to be essential for anyone with a general interest in Open Access repositories or who is likely to be affected by the growth of the Mandating phenomenon.
