A morning discussion group for special librarians

We all lead increasingly busy lives, rarely allowing ourselves (or being allowed to take?) time to meet and talk with fellow professionals on issues of mutual concern and interest. If you are working in professional isolation within your own organisation or would benefit from meeting people from other sectors, this session is for you. It is an opportunity to exchange ideas and experience and extend your personal and professional network.

Rediscover the human face of librarianship. Refresh your knowledge, find solutions to your problems, and step back for an afternoon to see the wood emerge from the trees.

This is not a lecture, not a workshop and not a training course. It is an opportunity to brainstorm topics of mutual interest with colleagues.

Following on from the September meeting which looked at all things related to e-journals, it became apparent that the minefield of licensing needed more in-depth review more time. It was therefore agreed to spend a whole session considering licences, looking at them from every angle. Are they really complex, or is it just the sight of small print that frightens people into believing that licences are a “bad thing”? What are the benefits of licences? How can they help the service deliverer?

An invaluable opportunity to air and share your views
